PIPACS07.30.2007The PIPACS system was created to manage records created on hospital institutions’ digital imaging equipment. On the one hand, it supports the efficient analysis of DICOM format records from the digital radiological imaging equipment with several image manipulation procedures and an interactive diagnosis interface; and on the other hand, storing and archiving records. The PIPACS software package is also an integrated RIS / PACS system as well, so it can independently serve a smaller healthcare institution or can cooperate with the given hospital’s informatics system (HIS). It receives examination appointments according to the HL7 standard from the hospital informatics system, and sends the diagnosis back in a format according to the same standard. If there is no way to connect to the hospital informatics system (for example, in case of mobile chest screening buses), the PIPACS system can make the examination appointment and send it to individual radiological examination equipment through its own patient registration interface. The PIPACS system not only stores the examination results, but can create a Patient CD for the patient, which contains the radiological records and the related diagnosis in digital format. Of course the program can also print the radiological records on a DICOM printer onto high-resolution film.  |
