The most basic technical requirement for neurosurgery is the appropriately targeted profile coagulator. The coagulator that fulfills the requirements of often life-threatening surgeries must simultaneously be robust and fine. It must stably uphold its power for hours. It must equally be suitable for varied neurosurgical interventions (in cases of extremely blood-filled sponge-like tumors, called cavernous haemangioma, where the strongest possible, continuous power bipolar coagulation is indispensable; during the removal of glomerulus’s scattered in the liquor-baths in the striations of the brain surface, where the emphasis is on shrinking fine, fragile veins and where coagulation happens as the result of the smallest electric current, but where the trunk to be kept can be damaged due to larger than necessary effect).
The RF-4 next-generation coagulator always stably provides the necessary power during surgery, based on what is most appropriate for the tissue area resistance. The charring at the end of coagulator forceps can be avoided with it, making haemostasis more efficient, the coagulated tissue is better controlled and saves the hand-held device. It does all this by setting the characteristics in automatic operating mode by measuring tissue resistance.
A new element is the really wide range of power, which – during testing – made it possible to cut everything required, from the bipolar cutting of the most consistent heavy-bodied tumor tissue to the coagulation of quarter-millimeter veins. These levels may be fine-tuned in a lot of required steps.
The most important positive feature of the new device is that the higher level coagulation of tissues between the coagulation forceps causes less tissue heating than the previous few-hundred kHz versions. This feature made it possible for us to perform surgical haemostasis, where the older technology would have damaged the nerve tissues.
Besides the set power value, the device’s LCD display indicates the current ideal electrode (coagulation forceps) size as well.
 
Emphasized advantages:
·         The required power may be set exactly in a wide range at a fine resolution.
·         It retains its stable power even during coagulation through bone.
·         The device may be used, even in its highest level, during entire very long (6-8  
          hours) surgeries without heating.
·         It does not have a fan, so it does not absorb the dust from textile materials used
          during surgery, decreasing the danger of infection.
 
 
The new radio-frequency technology means a significant jump from the traditional HF technology, because these surgical devices do not cut and coagulate thermally, but with Molecular Resonance Effect. This means that the radio-frequency current explodes the cells at the intra-cellular liquid’s own frequency (resonance). The process is so fast that the surrounding tissues do not have the chance to heat up. Their temperature always remains under 50°C. Coagulation happens with the protein denaturation at 63/65°C temperature. For this reason, neither the cut, nor the coagulation is not traumatic to the surrounding tissues, necrosis or charring does not happen.
